Karen (“Kari”) Meidenbauer graduated with a DVM degree from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine; she also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Virginia Tech.

Dr. Meidenbauer grew up in Maryland and has enjoyed moving back home to the Old Line State and being close to the water.  She has had a lifelong desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and enjoys solving difficult cases and relentlessly trying to improve her patients’ quality of life.  She has special interests in internal medicine, senior wellness, soft tissue surgery, and animal health surveillance. Our clients and staff love the enthusiasm Dr.Meidenbauer brings to her profession.

In addition to working as an Associate Veterinarian at Hickory, Dr. Meidenbauer holds a part-time position on the Senior Professional Staff at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as an Animal Health Analyst.  In this position, she works with the JHU/APL Global Disease Surveillance Program team to utilize animal health data to better predict public health risks.

In her spare time, Dr. Meidenbauer enjoys spending time with her friends and family, visiting her Alma Mater in Blacksburg, VA, and hanging out with her vivacious six-year-old Cairn terrier, Lily.
